Rescue Horses

One vital aspect of Queen Hive Farm is our commitment to our horses. When looking for new trail prospects, we focus on older horses in need of rescue from slaughterhouse and auction situations. Many people don’t know that an estimated 100,000 American horses go to slaughter in Canada and Mexico annually to supply horse meat abroad for human and pet consumption.

Since older horses make wonderful, experienced riding horses, we focus on buying new trail horses from situations like the slaughter auctions. Here are two of our wonderful trail horses that came from such situations. Meet Max, our Percheron, now in his early 30’s. Also, meet Gus, now in his later 20s. Both are still going strong with proper nutrition and care.
